DIVx/diihost.exe/Comm Surrogate has stopped working

Whenever I open a folder that has a DIVx movie in it I get an error that says “comm. Surrogate has stopped working”. It doesn’t prevent the video from playing, but Windows wants to check for solutions, but can’t find any. The problem even name is appcrash and the application name is diihost.exe . Any ideas on this would be great since I haven’t been able to find any just by searching. Thanks.

What OS are you on?
To be honest, I don't have a definitive answer. I don't use DivX.
The best solution I see on the net, is to ensure you have the latest version of DivX. If not, uninstall and reinstall the latest.
I hope this sorts out your issues.
A sure shot to fix this error from popping up, from what I see is to disable- dllhost.exe from DEP. (Data Execution Prevention) I will not suggest this route as it opens up security vulnerabilities.

I am running Win Vista and yes, it is dllhost, not dii--oops. I have actually just updated DivX with a reinstall, but the error still pops up every time.
