    hi,
when i try to open sites i get a res://ieframe.
dll/dns error, sometimes if i refresh a few times it will work sometimes it wont.

the pc will sometimes freeze, i can move the mouse but cant click on anything not even to restart.

and sometimes when i open a window for something it gets stuck and wont go away??

also i am having trouble trying to download stuff it keeps stopping even though i am still conected to the internet.
    thanks

O.k. Here is something to try first.

Goto Start/run type in "cmd" with no quotes and hit o.k. Once you do this at the prompt type "ipconfig /flushdns" without quotes. Try accessing the sites again.

If that doesn't work try the following:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

    Reboot the machine.

If that doesn't work, then I would create a new user profile in the user accounts section and then login to windows with that user account and see if the problem persists. If not, then that is your problem.

You might want to consider installing a different browser and try that instead of Internet Explorer.

Write down the current DNS that your router uses then replace what you have with Open DNS IPs: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

You can download Firefox from here
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ie.html
click on the word Windows and it will download.

As far as changing the router settings, you get into a router by typing something similar to 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.

If you tell me what brand router or what brand dsl modem you use, I will see exactly what the IP is to get into the setup.

    Jazzy,

I see that your Internet Explorer is running with a lot of add-ons and toolbars.

Go to start, All programs, accessories, system tooks, Internet Explorer,(no add-ons).

    Does that run better?

Also, from a Command prompt, type
    SFC /scannow
Note the space before the /.
You may be prompted for your install disk.
    Results? :wave:wave

    thanks!

i did the first step but have changed to firefox now so i don't know if that makes a difference?
when i try to do the second thing you mentioned it says that it is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

i would just like to say that everyone has been very patient with me and a wonderful help:cloud9:highfive i really appreciate all of your help and advise.

i have found this to be the most helpful, useful site on the internet GREAT BIG THANK-YOU TO EVERYONE!:grouphug

If you are using something with the Huawei name, you are probably using a USB wifi dongle through some sort of 3G (cellphone network). I can't help with that because I'm completely unfamiliar with connecting through a cellphone company.
