DLL error messages in Windows ME

    Hi!

I know I am not infected with Malware- as told to me by Chas. I have Windows ME, and all updates are up to date.

I do get a lot of error messages. One:
Winmgmt has caused and error in WBEMESS.DLL, which usually pops up twice in a row, and would not go away yesterday after I ran a scan from Micro's free virus scanner. I see this error message daily, sometimes 4 or 5 times a day. I have stopped using IE 6.0 and am using firefox unless I need the IE for something.

The other one I see frequently is: Msimn has caused an error in MSVBVM60.DLL, which has something to do with visual basic- which I have heard of but do not understand.

I was having trouble downloading the service pack for .NET framework, but finally uninstalled it, installed from microsoft and then downloaded the sp.

I also had some trouble last year -when i clicked a link, the page would open blank. I had to re-install some dll files. I followed some information I found while surfing for answers, and all the sites I went to said to do the same thing. There were about 10 that had to be fixed.

I have also seen : A required .DLL file LIBZKTESTR.DLL was not found.

I keep a notebook next to the computer to write this stuff down.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Re: DLL error messages in Windows ME + blue screen of death

I am also getting the blue screen of death, almost everyday now. I have done all the cleanup, so any ideas...anyone?
I want to install another hard drive and then install win XP on it, so I don't have to copy all of my files. I am also not into getting another cpu/tower. Not into dealing with getting rid of the old stuff. I only surf, check email, and go to forums (like this one).

Greetings from Halifax. Aside from the recent daily BSOD's, have you been getting them on an intermittant basis for a while now? Do you often have to sit through the scandisk upon boot up, while Windows checks your files & folders? If so, your hard drive could be on it's way out. Everytime you get a BSOD, chances are another system file is getting corrupted, adding to the instability of your system. Are you able to complete a 'thorough' scandisk, which checks the physical hard drive? I'd try that first & see if it finds bad sectors.

    Hi Wavetar,

No, no probs with the scandisk. I don't remember ever having errors after running it; i've had this computer for about 4.5 years. I usually run the thorough every second or third time ( time permitting), after disk cleanup and before defrag (weekly).

I have had alot of problems since installing the upgrade for my telus internet (zero knowledge product) and had to uninstall and re-install several times before giving up and going with AVG.

Still don't know about those dll error messages- any ideas?
