.DLL file trouble.

    First off I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I couldn't figure out which one it should go in. I am having a lot of trouble with my computer. I am currently running AOL 5.0, that should tell you right off the bat that its not working right. The problem that I want help with is about running a game. First I would get a message that said that file DSOUND.DLL could not be found. I found it very easily though. I downloaded another one anyway and that message went away, but I got a new one. It sais, "The DSOUND.DLL file is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL: NTQuertInformationProcess." Did I mess up my computer even more by downloading DSOUND.DLL or was that the right thing to do? Is my new problem fixable?

    It would help to know what operating system you have and you should be using AOL 9 Which may well indeed help

    My OP is windows 98. The reason I am using AOL 5.0 is because it is the only one that works. I have ran this game before but now that I try and install it again it won't work. Also if it helps I'm using a Dell Demension XPS T500 I think is the name.

    When you say that AOL 9 does not work this would indicate that you have insufficient memory and if this is the case this game wont work either. It may pay you to back things up and reformat the drive or you could always put some extra ram in as it is very very cheap depending where you live. Even getting hold of a disk of windows 98se which also is inexpensive will help

    Thanks I'll try reformating.. There isn't anything that I want to keep on my computer. Should I still back anything up?

    Only thing I can think of backing up is drivers.

    Yes do back up what is most essential and when you have reformatted don't forget to install the latest drivers and also there is a service pack which you may like to install as well and this can be found here
