I AM NEW TO THIS SO I WILL SIMPLY STATE MY PROBLEM.
I AM RUNNING WIN 98 AND HAVE SOMEHOW LOST QUITE A FEW IMPORTANT .DLLS. I AM NOT SURE OF ALL THE ONES I AM MISSING OR WHETHER THEY WERE HACKED OFF OR I JUST DELETED THEM SOME HOW.
IS THERE A PROGRAM OUT THAT THAT WILL SCAN MY HARDDRIVE AND TELL ME THE ONES I AM MISSING, AND IS THERE A WAY TO DOWNLOAD THEM? IF I INSTALL XP, WILL IT INSTALL OVER MY OLD OS?

You could run System File Checker ( SFC ) to run quickest is to goto

Start > Run and type SFC and press enter

( have your win98 CD in drive incase it needs to extract some files )

YES WindowsXP can be installed over the top of win98 its just an upgrade install.....

It however is always worth doing a clean install of any OS cuts down on any junk! ( if you go this route you will need to backup & save all your important files & data )
