dll troubles

Hi all, can someone help me out with a dll file.....I am having a problem with msxml3.dll, It seems to be working on all 3 other login windows of my XP,"regsvr32 Msxml3.dll" but refuses to work on mine. According to my PC I am owner/administrator. I have tried to download it and install it into the exact place that it tells me to...but nothing.

I'm at my wits end....because of this one dll I am unable to upgrade messenger or IE....does anyone have a solution?

 

Maybe try dial-a-fix? or IEfix? Both are free downloads here at MajorGeeks. You'll need your XP CD for IEfix. If those don't work, maybe try a system restore to right before the problem happened, or maybe a safe re-install of XP, or try replacing the file from the recovery console: put a good copy of the file on a floppy, boot your XP CD, press 'r' for recovery console, and type "copy a:\msxml3.dll c:\%file path%" without the quotes. %file path% is the location of where msxml3.dll resides on your hard drive. If you get a warning that the current file will be overwritten, say OK..... good luck!

Okie dokie I ahve tried the dial a fix proggy.....this is what I am getting in ways of error codes....

" Error 2147024891 unregister C:\WINDOWS\system32\msxml.dll
The error test is: Access is denied"

" Error 0x80070005 It is suggested that you run 'repair Permission' which is found in the tool dialog WINDOWS XP Home User will need secedit.exe to repair"

Am I getting into dark territory here?
