Ok I am looking at getting a new TV for when I move into my new house in a few months (Yay finally getting out of my small apartment).

I am looking to buy this before I move as the 0% financing I cannot beat.

Any who I am looking mostly at DLP as I thought this looked a lot cleaner on the floor model when I looked a few weeks back.

I was wondering if any of you guys out there had any opinions on these two types of TV's

I am looking at a Panasonic DLP or a Sony Wega LCD off hand.
I know two different companies make it harder but hey what can I do as these are my options.

Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks

Personally I've seen people who aren't as impressed with DLP as they are with lcd, and lcd and work out to be cheaper too. The picture quality of lcd looks better too; I'm currently looking for an lcd tv for my room, and had a look at the dlp range in a store and the quality wasn't as good as lcd.

i was in Best Buy just today and was eyeing a sweet 42" Panasonic Plasma for $3,000, right below it was an equally nice looking 42" Samsung Plasma for $3100...

Yeah I was really wanting a plasma a few years ago but for some reason I am just not looking at them anymore...the price is way to much for the size that you get.
I want someting in the 60" range....great for the Football season comming up :)

I just got a 36" Sony Wega CRT about 6 months ago and I love it!!!!!!

Granted it is bigger than a plasma or lcd, but atleast it is flat screen and it was on sale for 700 dollars w/extended 3 yr house call warranty!!! Damn thing is so big, I wouldn't even think about taking it to the shop to get fixed!!

All in all...I'm very happy with the bang for the buck!!!! And to think...My wife is the one who watches all the TV around here!!!!

Actually I didn't...I figured when the time comes that I can do HDTV...I will be moving into our new house, and then we ARE going to buy a flat panel TV, which will be HDTV ready!! If I recall correctly...the HDTV ready models were around 100-200 dollars more, can't remember exactly.

I tell you what though...it has an unbelievable amount of features on it (like picture mode) and like I said before...it is awesome bang for the buck!!

BTW...it's a 32 not a 36 like I said before...my apologies for the misunderstanding!!

I have a slight personal preference for L.C.D., with plasma having a higher energy levels on the screen, being a bit less eye friendly for long-time viewing. As a rule, plasma's a bit dearer, but the price gap is closing. Some say plasma screen has more 'vibrant' image, but I think differences between makes and models is a greater factor. Life-spans are possibly a litle greater on L.C.D., but since both forms now have lengthy life-spans, this shouldn't be a major factor when buying.

But whatever floats your boat. The comparisons between the two forms are getting pretty close, now.

what's your budget???

go with a Sony, Panasonic, or Toshiba... been reading great reviews about them lately and i think Consumer Reports ranked them among the highest...

also, make sure they explain to you in detail everything you get with the extended warranty and what it does and doesn't cover... because they will definitely push that on ya...

My budget is around around 3000 or so.
It was going to be less but my wife wants a big 60" so hey I am not going to complain :)
As of late I was looking at Panasonic or Sony
The Panasonic I saw a few weeks ago was very sharp looking.

Oh and I was at one of my coworkers house this past week...do these big HDTV always look a little fusy on regular stations not brodcasting HDTV or is because we were just being spoiled looking at HD?

I thought it was because of being spoiled...:)

ooh $3000 =]

check out those 42" Plasmas i was talkin about... i know you want 60" but for that budget, you might only be able to get the DLP or Rear Projection TV's... with those models, you will have glare problems with sunlight or if the lighting isn't correct and they are not good for wide angle viewing....

i don't own a large screen tv but have friends that do, and yes their regular broadcast channels looked a bit grainy, but that might not be as bad with digital cable...
