Dma-Driver error

Hello all,

A problem with my recently purchased computer has already arisen. It's the CD-Rom drive.

Currently, it is not writing disks properly at all - it gets to 60% and then fails because of a DMA-Driver error. I have attached two logs.

I noticed there are 'two' DVD/CD rom entries in the device manager, despite the fact that I have only one CD drive. The first one is a LN6420E IUE848X SCSI CdRom device, the other is TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223F SCSI CdRom device...could there be some IDE or master/slave confusion going on?

You may want to backup the system settings first by creating a system restore point.

next, go to device manager, expand the dvd/cd-rom drives section. right click on the first cd-rom entry and select Uninstall from the menu that appears.

do the same above for the 2nd cd rom entry

next, right click on the computer name displayed at the top of the list in device manager's window and select scan for hardware changes.

windows should recognize the installed cd rom and repopulate the list accordingly.

reboot

confirm that device manager is now displaying the correct entry.

if all is well, create a new 2nd system restore point.

*in addition to the above, you may also want to check for more up to date cd rom drivers at the computer maker's website.

Have done as you said and replaced the SATA cable to see if that makes much difference.

Will keep you updated.
