DMI data change

    Hi,
    I have a gateway GT5658E...os vista premium.
    When I turn the pc on in the morning I get a blank screen that says DMI data change...and then tells me to boot from a disc. I don't have a disc...when I play with it a little I can get it past that screen but it is getting harder...what can I do to fix it? :cry

    details on what you do. Does it then boot into windows normally?
    Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?

    Restarting it had worked twice, and hitting cen,alt,del has worked a few times. The first time it happened C-A-D worked right away it just went right into booting windows. The last time it took me 40 mins...then shutting it down, rebooting, and hitting C-A-D worked.
    If I hit enter it will go down a list...then just come back to needing a disc.

    I have not tried last known good configuration...how would I do that? Thanks by the way

    Press F8 at startup (before windows loads) and you will get a menu. One of the choices is Last Known Good Configuration.

    You need to go to the Gateway site and learn how to make a disk from your computer. I suspect that there is a hidden partition that contains the recovery information - you burn this to a CD or DVD so you have a recovery disk.
