    Hey everyone :)

I'm have some issues with my PC. I went to turn it on today first it came up with nothing on the screen and one long beep. I found out that it was either the video card or RAM causing the problem. Took my video card out, checked for any weird stuff, cleaned it, and reseated it. Same beep. It's gotta be the memory, right? Well, I took both sticks out and reseated them. Now the computer comes on. It loads the BIOS welcome screen (and I can press tab for POST, but it doesn't stay up long enough for me to read anything on it-- appears to be error-free). No more beeping, but instead it gets to the part where it says "Verifying DMI Pool Data" then it hangs up.

Funny thing is, there's no error except the long paragraph of repeated characters you'll see in my 2 photos. The first photo occurs after my PC has been off 30 seconds or longer. You'll notice the words "Update Successful."

If I turn the computer off and immediately back on, those words are conspicuously absent. I have no idea what any of it means... I tried taking out CMOS battery, resetting BIOS to default, etc. To my knowledge, I have the latest BIOS. I'm not sure what would cause my problem, so here I am looking for you guys' help, yet again :D

Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. My specs are posted below, too.

First pic-- this is what it says after the PC has been off for a few seconds and I reboot it

This, however, is what it says when I reboot (turn off and back on or press reset button) after seeing the previous image. "Update successful" is no longer there

    My specs:

Windows XP Pro (when it works)
    AMD 64 3000+ Venice
    1 GB PC 3200 memory (2 x 512)
    120GB Samsung HDD
    MSI X800XL 256MB PCI-E
    MSI K8N Neo4-F motherboard

Hard drive is detected by BIOS and I've perused the boot order, too. Let me know what to do!! :p

Tried different memory... still happening. Do I need a new CMOS battery or something?

In case anyone has this problem in the future, I tried a bunch of stuff in the XP recovery console but here's what seemed to have done the trick in 3 easy steps:

(a blank line indicates pressing enter, type what's in bold exactly as it appears.)

    1) Do chkdsk /f /p

    2) Go to the root directory type cd\

    then type attrib -h boot.ini

    attrib -r boot.ini

    attrib -s boot.ini

    del boot.ini

    bootcfg /rebuild

Reboot the machine and go into the recovery console again (assuming it still doesn't load Windows)

    3) Type fixmbr and press enter. When it's done, reboot. Hopefully this solves your problem like it did mine. If not, I'm sorry. Good luck!!
