DNS Resolution Problem - Windows 98 SE

    Trying to access the internet via browser (IE 6.0.2.2800.1106), getting a "Cannot find server or DNS error" message.

    Symptoms:
    Can ping 127.0.0.1
    Can ping other members of the local area network
    Can ping the gateway
    Can ping ip addresses beyond the gateway
    Can FTP to/from a member of the lan running ftp server
    Can http to the gateway admin console using the gateway's ip address
    All other members of the lan can access beyond the gateway with no problems.
    Cannot get to any site beyond the gateway via name using ping or http
    Cannot get to any site beyond the gateway via ip address using http, but can get beyond the gateway with ping
