Hello- My pc is acting up. I have threads over in the Malware and Software forums regarding the anomalies, too.

I have downloaded and ran the HD Tune Pro tests, clipboarded, zipped, and attached them here.

Please, someone with HDD expertise take a look at the results and please advise. If you need to know more about the issues I am experiencing, please ask.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

I took a look at 3 out of the 5 clipboards you've attached and can tell you there's nothing wrong with the hard drive. It passed the tests I saw with flying colors.

We'll need to know specifics about the issues you're having so we can have a better idea of how to advise you

Thanks- 1st, XP PRO SP3 boots slowly, and when the desktop appears avast! Internet Security 2014 takes a couple of minutes to load. Then, I cannot start a browser or program for about another minute or so. The mouse indicates some peculiarities also- for example, when I come to MajorGeeks I can't log in. The pointer just hovers over the box, and the only way I can get it to the cursor state is to rt. click/ clear it a couple of times.
The pc sat dormant for 8 mos. and my AV had expired. So, when I got back home I had Charter Communications come out and reinstall cable, upgraded and renewed AV. When I got everything fired up, I got hit with a bunch of Windows Updates, too. I did have some minor malware issues that we handled over in the Malware Forum.

I have run SFC.EXE /SCANNOW and was required to insert the XP Pro disk. I can't run CHKDSK as it messes things up and I have to hard shut down and reboot using Last Known Good Config.

In Event Viewer, here's what I got this morning:
    1)System- 'aswNdis2' Event54
    'ServConMgr' Event7026
    'Netlogon' Event3095
    2)Application- 'Userenv' Event1517

For lack of a better term, the system just seems 'confused'. It was running fine when I left the state 8 mos. ago.

I hope that I have provided enough info for you. If there is anything else you would like to know, please ask.

    Thanks again-

    tim
