    Hi!

I just got myself a new computer...very nice upgrade, but I have a 750gig HD.

The HD is currently set up with 2 partitions...one has windows XP on it and the other is just a data drive.

To install it into the new computer, can I just format the partition that has XP on it and leave the data drive alone? Will that work or do i have to format the entire HD?

    Thanks!

When running the XP installation CD will you will get an option as to which partition to install XP. Installing on one partition should have no effect on the second. So your data will be safe. Just make sure you choose the correct one to overwrite. The choice is usually by size as some labels don't always show during setup--so know the approximate size of the partition you want to reformat.
