Do I have to have a firewall with a wireless network?

I have a cable modem hooked directly into my PS2 and also into a wireless network router. My PC has a wireless network card that I use to connect to the router. I was having some problems with my computer, and hired a tech to come out and fix. During the fix, we discussed the need for a firewall. He told me that I didn't need a firewall on my PC because I had a wireless network.

Question: Is this true? Does the wireless network serve as a firewall to my PC?

It may be that you don't, but I would have one, if for nothing else to see what is trying to connect, both incoming and outgoing! :)

having a wireless network is no different. So long as you have a connection to the internet, you need a firewall. A wireless connection is more vulnerable because it's transmitted over the air-waves. The tech is wrong.

Thanks for the input. I will install a firewall.
