Do I need a Firewall if I have a Router...?

Do I need a Firewall if I have a Router...? My router is pretty annoying because it blocks harmless ports, so I assume it blocks the more dangerous ports...

Well, I'm confused here. Does it depend on my router or what?

What router?


Until 2 months ago, I was connected through a Linksys 4 port router, and never had the need for a firewall. All the online testing I could find said I was completely stealthed,, all ports blocked. I wish the software firewall I'm using now did as well.

Okay it has firewall capabilities, except it blocks like 23812983 ports. Which means it's tough to do anything. I haven't enabled it because I can barely connect to anything. And uhh...I have no clue how to configure specific ports...

 

23812983? There are only 65535 ports. If you have a good router a software firewall is useless, a program that monitors out going connections can be useful, but not neccesary.
