Do I need a new mb

Hi I have a intermittent problem when I boot up the monitor comes on sometimes and then sometimes not just showing a no signal sign.I have tried re-seating the vid card still get same problem.I've tried a different monitor still the same,on board vid works but very bad display tried altering setting. The only thing left is if the mb is faulty
Every thing is about 18 months old home build
MB Asus m2npv-vm
Vid Asus g-force 7300gs
pros Amd athlon 64
+2 4200
2 gig ram
xp pro
Any ideas please

 

try putting the vid card into a computer you know has a good MB. if it works then it might just be a bad mb you have.

 

also, if you know how to, take of the fan/heatsink of the processor, re-seat the processor, and re-seat the fan/heatsink....

could just be the mobo, thats a sure sign of something failing...

 

I've tried another graphics card in but still get same results.The PC boots up ok you can hear windows starting up but get no picture on screen.
I think it could be the power supply or a faulty mobo
any other suggestions

 

I bought and installed a new mobo Asus M2N all is well again
