Do I Need About:Buster?

hey, relatively new here to these forums(great ones at that), and I'm just wondering if the about:buster 3.0 (seen on this site) is what I need to fix a problem I've been having lately.

my problem is, whenever I go to access hotmail, specifically the mail heading, my computer will redirect me to a site for which the url is about:blank, and will warn me with a pop-up about the spyware it found on my computer. since finding this, I've run searches on spybot search and destroy and also adaware SE personal, both the latest editions(AFAIK).

just a few side notes: a search bar that I recently had seems to dissappear for a while if I press F11 twice, whereas dragging it into the url bar will allow it to return after a page has been left. just checked now, but it doesn't stay off if you start another window... easy solution for getting rid of it for a session, if you have the same bar as me.

also, would another solution to my problem be to system restore to a point before the hijacker got this far? I know I have other problems with hijackers, but as long as none interfere with my browsing such as this, and no pop-ups, I'm content to leave the computer until the next reformat my family wants.
