Do I "Need" These?

I DO have a Yahoo! mail account, however, I do not use their "toolbar". I have a couple of Yahoo! programs installed on my PC's (that seem to take-up quite a bit of space) and I'm not sure if I need them or not:

1. "Yahoo! Browser Services" = 19.22 MB
2. "Yahoo! Install Manager" = 19.22 MB

I'd LOVE to reclaim this space if I can ... (?) :confused

 

IMO you do not need these programs. If you get your internet from AT&T (formerly SBC) then they may have told you that the software was required (in some rare cases you do need to install their browser; why? I have no idea) and you probably rec'd the CD when you rec'd the DSL equipment. If you don't use AT&T/SBC, then the software shouldn't really even be on your PC unless you just started clicking "OK" and "Next" when you created the Yahoo mail account. If you don't read everything on the screen when signing up for any email account, you will likely install a bunch of "tools" and "features" and "extras" that just waste space and resources.

Hey thanks, and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you too dlb (and everyone for that matter!) ...

I realized a couple years ago that I was in fact just ZZZZZZ-ipping though installs too quickly, and now actually READ what I'm clicking-on (except the legalese - and I use EulaLYZER, or whatever it's called, if ever I'm
in doubt about the "contract"), and it was just about the same "couple years ago" that I signed-up for the Yahoo! email, so perhaps I did inadvertently add those programs.

I'm guessing that I "may" lose some of the functionality of that account as I have actually configured it for a "My Yahoo!" type of page, though from what you're saying - maybe I won't.
