i usualy use up the trials in instances of visual effects, or find a way around using them. however i found it very sucky that there were only like 2 or 3 available "dreams" when i installed deskscapes, and was not able to use any more unless i bought it.
however i did not check what the possibilities were if i were to just try and run something through windows (vista ultimate 64bit) itself.

i am a very aesthetic person, but i cant see myself paying 20$ for deskscapes, and like another 20 or more for that sites subscription.

any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Hi

NO, IMHO as its not a core useful application, while it looks good, personally I find it distracting.

Windows Ultimate includes Dreamscene and you can the "free" Deskscapes from Wincustomize, been using this for years with no mention of having to pay (albiet I not ran it in Vista x64) for dreams!

If you register on Wincustomize you can download more deskscapes that are free.

What Windows Vista version you using?

i am running windows vista ultimate 64, and i was wondering but have yet to try... uninstalling dreamscapes and seeing if windows would just run their "dreams" itself. i have found just this morning that windows had a few good ones of its own(at least better than the 2 that dreamsscape provided).
there was just one or two that i wanted to try out that looked really nice from the wincustomize site.
so i am going to see what i can get away with without dreamscape i think, and if nothing else just keep with normal windows selection(or find whatever's free).

    as just a follow up,
as i was prepared to just run with whatever dreamscapes were available through windows itself... i finally found a way to make others work. it is simple enough to make a video work obviously, but i found a way to older version of deskscapes which was apparently free and worked on vista ultimate.
    i found it at tinyurl.com/scapes
and the site that i got some "dreams" from, and that showed me a video on were to go was at " http://www.vistadreams.org/howto/Video.aspx"

so i guess it is possible to make it work without paying, at least for now.
