Do Many Of The Gurus Consider Win7 Better Than Win10…?

…because I’ve noticed that some of them still use it.

1. Is Win7 more stable than Win10?

2. Has anyone else besides me had any of these odd problems in Win10?

• Cortana can find files with desired filenames, but can't search for text within files.

• Windows spontaneously makes 2 copies of a file in the same directory.

If the original filename is “filename.xxx”, the 2 copies names are “filename-name-THINK.xxx” and “filename-name-THINK-2.xxx” (where “name” is the original name of the computer, despite the fact that I’ve successfully changed the computer’s name).

This happens even for folders.

4. In Notepad, F3 doesn’t execute “Find Next”.

By the way, I’m running Win10 Pro, and my hard drive is brand new.

 

Windows 7 still running fine in my book.You will continue to receive windows updates until 2020.

Yes there are a lot of double copies of file's and folders.There is no worries it even happens on Windows 7.

Editing: If this seems like a problem to you.I would head over to the malware forums.And run the read me and run guide.I would give you the link kinda hard to do on my phone.

There's all so a new windows update that messes up some systems.I have forgotten the link.

Sounds like it was just a suggestion in case the behavior of the computer is out of the ordinary.

As for this behavior I’ve never experienced any of these issues, not even in W7. Been running W10 Pro for maybe 3 years now on the same computer, no issues like this. As for Notepad I only use it for batch files and host file editing, outside of that MS Word is hands down the best Word Processor on the market but that’s a matter of opinion.

I believe it’s the Fall Creator update that does this. I ended up doing clean installs with the latest W10.iso which has it built-in on a few computers because I noticed a decrease in system performance like explorer windows getting hung up, programs lagging. But I did a clean install and performance was back up to normal and everything back to smooth operation.

Have you ever heard of the Duplicate Folder Virus.

This has to deal with multiple DLL's.I have had one of these little nasty long ago.It will basicly keep eating up your hard drive or ssd space.

 

Personally no... I haven’t had a virus in 12 years, even when I was a torrent junkie. Gave that up when I became an Apostolic Christian but I digress. Almost all my malware and diagnostics have been for other people’s computers. Once I joined this forum it became even more so.
