    I downloaded SuperFasst98(wincelerator) http://66.98.158.200/download96.html
It took four hours to get my computer cleaned up. It added five new startup items. Two of them were the cuydoc virus. Another was Alexa.

Yukon98, you know what? NEVER has anyone EVER posted that a file posted at MajorGeeks has a virus and actually been right about it in years. You are correct, its attempting to download a virus and is being removed from the site right now. Since the installer that you downloaded from us is out of our control by downloading the program via the internet, we had no idea until you left this message and we THANK YOU very much!!!

As an FYI, AVG caught it before it could go anywhere. Because of this, I am virus free and it never installed, so I have no Alexa or spyware installed. Are you using Antivirus and is it up to date, because a good, up to date antivirus should have never allowed this to happen.

I'm using Norton, but it didn't catch it. I've loaded lots of things from Major Geeks and never had a problem.

Glad to hear it, sorry for the hassle. The website is gone, someone must have put that file in place of it because our file was not bad, but the download from that file, if that makes sense? It was a web installer file in other words :)

Hey Yukon, you have got to get AVG. Works for me, and as you can see, it works for MA.

I love FREE! Should I uninstall Norton before I download AVG?

I would download AVG first (save to desk top). Then go offline, uninstall Norton (check their site for uninstall requirements for your OS first), then install AVG from your desktop. At any rate, that's the way I did it and it worked. Norton was a real pill to uninstall tho......

I am still having problems with this. Read about it below. I need to join in the lawsuit.

    Jan-24-04
Class Action Lawsuit filed against Eanthology, Stop Sign, Kon-X Maker Eacceleration Corp., Acceleration Software International Corporation (owners) Clint and Diana Ballard, and DoubleClick, Inc., alleging false advertising, unfair, deceptive, misleading business practices.

    Stockton, California

A class action lawsuit was filed December 3, 2003, AMENDED January 24, 2004, in San Joaquin County Superior Court by CONSUMER ADVOCATES RIGHTS ENFORCEMENT SOCIETY, INC. (CARES, INC) a California not for profit consumer rights advocacy corporation, and Patricia Cole, a local internet user, against DOUBLECLICK, INC., EACCELERATION CORP., ACCELERATION SOFTWARE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION.

The lawsuit alleges the defendants deceptively advertised it products by presenting a banner that looks like a legitimate internal error message stating "VIRUS WARNING!". Clicking on the familiar "X" to close the offending banner window instead deceptively takes the user to the defendants' web site. The user is then met with a barrage of ads urging the user to download, and in some circumstances being subjected to an automatic download, of defendants' various eAnthology software, such as Stop Sign and Kon-X . Once on the computer, the software reportedly displays characteristics similar to spyware and./or a virus, including, but not limited to, slowing down users' computers, interrupting users' internet connection, interfering with users' programs, and removal of the software near impossible.

The suit is brought on behalf of all those subjected to the offending banner ad and all those who encountered any of the offending eAnthology software. The lawsuit seeks an injunction prohibiting defendants from distributing the banner ad and from distributing software that contains offending characteristics as well as compensatory and punitive damages. The lawsuit also seeks payment of the attorney's fees and costs incurred in bringing suit against defendants.
