nVidia has already pulled these drivers off of their site so this is a warning to heavy GPU users that haven't heard of this yet. What the driver does is lock your fan @ %20 and many folks have lost their GPU's and more due to this. Tons of stories about it!

    Hi Augie, great heads up

I gained an email from nVidia on this earlier, guess that they didnt release a good or compatible release version driver. Good on nVidia for releasing a email alert on this, downside is that if you are not signed upto nVidia alerts then you dont get this update message and have to rely on great posts liek Augies.

Problem is many will blow it out of proportion as usual as if its the end of the world! just wait for an update, nVidia are not bad at getting updates out if they f/up.

Well Halo, if my GTX260-216 burnt because of this update then I'd be really pissed!:mad However, if one is updating a driver and doesn't check it's performance is lax IMO. Heck, this is the main reason why I never install drivers on zero-day! ;)

I feel real sorry for the folks who lost hardware and I hope that nVidia does right by them. :)

    Nice one Augie.

The time to bolt the stable door (sorry do updates) is six months after the horse has bolted (sorry release).

    Way to go, augie. :highfive

I came home from work all set to post this warning and you're way ahead of me. Thanks! :)

nVidia have pulled the driver form their website and there's a big warning and a link to how to roll back for those who don't know how to do it. Here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/driver_rollback.html
