This is Offtopic and im sorry if it offends anyone whatso ever but I decided to make a poll on this out of curiosity. Since this is a civilized Forum I expect NO FLAMING, HARASSMENT OR ANY OTHER HURTFUL COMMENTS! The Poll is private so nobody can see your response. However feel free to reply to the poll with your opinion

first time this gets out of line, I'm locking it. I'm debating locking it now due to being such a sensitive subject.

I'll say this. People are people, and we all have skeletons in the closet. Doesn't make one less a person.

Yes i realize this is a rather iffy subject, and please if it gets out of line please lock it i dont want anybodys feelings hurt. Im just curious as to what other peoples opinions are since this is a rather important subject if you like in the United States, so im just curious as to what others think

    Yes. Without question.

Why is this even being singled out as a question? Why aren't we asking who accepts bisexual, transgendered or those still questioning? The fact the question is being asked is provocative enough in itself. I don't really care what anyone else thinks of gays or any other sexual preference minority as long as they are respectful to them as human beings.

And FYI polls here are not anonymous...once you respond you can see exactly which members have replied and how.

Not True Lev, the person asking the Poll question has turned off "Show Peoples Poll results" if you care to view the poll you will see as of this posting eight people have voted and there are no names listed.

Hey a gutsy question, just not certain why anyone would want to know unless you were doing some research project??

Know who voted what? Or just know the results of the poll? Meh im just curious. This isnt for some type of project im curious as to what other people think, since this had become a more important subject in the past few years.

Usually, once you have voted, this is true, As I don't care to vote in what I believe is a pointless poll, I cannot see that the OP changed this feature, and as he did not state that in his original post, no one else was to know this either before voting.

I think to each his own, that includes not pushing it on me. I dont make out with my wife in public, I think its bad behavior, as an example, so why do I have to watch others. I feel the same way about religion. Dont care what you do, just keep it to yourself. I mean, do I need to come out and say I am heterosexual and roman catholic, maybe a press release? A t-shirt? No. I dont care, its no ones business, so I dont, thats all :) Wish others would give me the same courtesy.

My only thought against it, which I have discussed with gay friends is that if we were all gay, civilization would be long gone.

I basically agree 100% with M.A. If it's between consenting adults in private - then whatever floats your boat, whether it be hetro; homo bi; foot fetish; worship of pet rocks, or whatever. It's just not something I relate to personally, that's all.

When people get too much in my face about anything (religion, politics, sport, etc.), I just tell them:- "Tell you what, I won't try and shove my thoughts and lifestyle down your throat and show you respect, and I expect you to show me the same, - otherwise we can stop wasting each other's time right now." We can agree to be different, and that's cool by me.

As M.A. said, I don't engage in bad public behaviour and respect others, so I don't think it's a big ask for anyone to do likewise.

i have some friends who are gay (male and female) i find them very genuine people who take great care not to offend others with their sexuality they do not push it in my face that seems to be for the gay rights brigade.

i am no authority on this but i have been told that gay people do not decide to become attracted to same sex but it is in the genes, there are many better informed people out there who may give an opinion but that's my 10 cents

I've known some gay kids as an advisor, if anything I try to be there for them a little extra. I don't believe this is a choice, and anyone who is gay has a rougher road than most.

Most cultures have been very unforgiving, and if ours is it is a recent development.

Both of my sisters are bisexual (but are usually with women) -they have always been that way, I don't have a problem with it,but it kindof bothered me when I was a teenager in the 80's when I was going through my religious phase, but since growing up, I tend to just accept people just the way they are.

Not particually bothered as to a persons sexual preference as I'm not also bothered as to colour/race/religion, I judge each person individually and if they are friendly and nice then I will treat them the same.

Actually, lately, I have been doing some speaking locally to LGBT Youth groups on the subjects of safe sex, STD's and transgender issues (no, am still just a guy, but have other reasons for being edumacated on the subject) :)

I agree with a lot of the thoughts put forth here. I don't really want to see anyone's PDA's, gay, straight or otherwise.

@MA... LMAO!!! Too true man, too true!!

As a final thought, While I do not agree with anyone shoving their beliefs in others faces, I do believe in the Gay Pride celebration. Very simply put, there is a lot of history of the gay community being put down and mistreated. Granted, I also believe in Black History month, and I'm white... go figure. If you ever want to get a better idea, rent the movie "Stonewall" and no, it isn't about the Civil War General.

    Have a great day all!!

Very general question on a broad topic. I assume you are referring to homosexuals, and their lifestyle. Gays usually refers to men having intimate relations with men, while lesbians refers to women having intimate relations with women.
That said, I was raised with the Judeo-Christian ethic, and was taught that sexual relations between anyone other than a man and a women, that were married, was aberrant behavior.
I have known, and still know, many homosexuals, mostly men, and have found most to be decent people. Some I have remained friends with. Have also had a few make a pass at me, but was never offended by it, I wish I could say the same about a few of the women that have. My creator knows what is in my heart, and I could never judge anyone based solely on their sexual orientation. I abstain. enough said.

Love is love and thats that. Again, public snogging from heterosexuals is JUST as nasty. I don't think the gay community should be forced to fight for their rights though. I don't think who you love and how you love should even be a question of right, and parenting and marriage are not things anyone should have to beg or fight for. Because again, love is love.

But does it matter who thinks what? Unless you are gay and you have some personal battle that requires people thoughts, like coming out to your friends and family, or dealing personally with discrimination a bunch of random people's opinions on the faceless internet seems rather trite and unimportant.

Appreciate that brother. We have had discussions on it. It is very difficult, lets be real. Most of us were brought up to dislike or distrust people who are different, whether it is lifestyle, color or religion. Nowadays, its not as bad, but we still fear what is different, so it is easier to laugh at or pick on those who are different then to understand or respect them.

    In my opinion -
It is all down to conception - when the number of chromosomes are made up within your genes. The majority of males born have one X and one Y chromosome. Some have one X and 2 YY, which leads to a lack of testosterone and increased feminine tendencies. (Females will have similar experiences but without the testosterone, obviously :) )

The human chromosome make-up, is that women only provide X chromosome, but men X and Y. Therefore to form a baby, X must meet Y to combine and synthesize into genes.
Sometimes things do not go to plan and the odd X or Y get mixed up and the baby grows up following the only path they know.

Whether they like same sex or not is nothing that they planned, it was out of their control before they were born. Gay people know 'no other' way of life, just as I know nothing but a 'heterosexual' way of life :)

    Thats my tuppence worth :)

Upbringing is just an excuse, it's in a persons nature. I imagine only a few people by nature don't judge.

I've been harassed by so called open minded people before, and I know people that have been too.

I tend to judge people by their actions rather than race, creed, religion or sexual orientation. I have gay friends; had a few lesbian friends and they never hit on straight and consider public displays inappropriate. Most have better manners than me, I think they're more conscious of their actions due to some people being uncomfortable. I know they have a harder road to travel and wouldn't want to watch everything I said/did 24/7.

IMHO citizens should all have the same rights; sexual orientation should not be a factor. We are not all straight, some are gay - it's a fact and everyone should deal with it and adjust our laws accordingly.

I was raised roman catholic, priest told me that I didn't have to agree with all teachings they were a guideline, religion was a belief, I could be a good christian w/o accepting everything being taught.

Bias is a learned behavior. I have one against foreign tech support due to always getting someone that I can't understand reading me a manual rather than giving me a knowledgeable answer. I am positive there're foreign techs that are knowledgeable working at these companies, I've not run into them yet and most likely never will since I no longer bother calling but know they don't deserve my wrath.

I was born and raised penticostal all my life, and my own self i could never be gay because to me it is a sin, however i feel like everybody should be treated equally and everyone should love one another. On the other hand i don't feel like it is something that you are born with, it is something that you choose and my reasoning for that is because some people have turned from strait to gay or gay to strait. Until more scientific evidence can prove other wise, or if someone could convince that is how I believe.

hey im not saying that im against gay people or anything like that. and yes we should stamp out" ignorance", i was just saying basically that everyone should be treated the same no matter what. so what if i believe that it is a choice to be gay and not born with it. that dosent make me ignorant it justs makes me wanting proof to tell me other wise. my point that i am trying to make is so what if people are gay. people should treat all people with the respect that they deserve.

Not much more to say on the subject, except that, I make any evaluation of said group or individuals on the content of character. To me, people are free to think, or live how they wish, as long as it's not stopping me doing likewise.

Included is the right to be ignorant, if they want, or just are by matter of upbringing. As such, I don't believe in 'stamping out' anything, not even ignorance, as to do so starts to encroach on the whole "you gotta think like me", mentality, which no matter how right in the perceiver’s mind, is still an infringement on personal thoughts/liberties, i.m.o. Intellectual snobbery and prejudice also causes a lot of needless friction, i.m.h.o. Now, I don't need to agree/follow a person's lifestyle to respect their right to lead it.

my view is that we have a broad spectrum of members who have experienced life, some good and some not so good it does not matter what topic you wish to discuss there is always another opinion here but the main point is that we all try to be civil to each other if not the Mods will soon let us know.

as for the assistance with your PC problems i have yet to find a more helpful and patient group of Techs who will discuss your problem be you a beginner or a geek.
