    Hi
My Advent (a back up machine really as I use a Samsung laptop and a notebook)is pretty ancient and I do open it up at times to blow the dust out.
Now the CD drive will not open.' Clicks but nothing else. Any advice apart from trashing t5he beast ? :-D

Does your CD device have a small pin hole that you can insert a paperclip in to open it?

I keep this tiny exe file (yes, it is laughingly called cup holder) on my desktop to open optical drives in computers. It also retracts on desktops but not on laptops.
    Code:

My current cheap eMachine optical drive sits behind a cover and has no pin hole so I'm prepared if I can't get it open.
