dodgey ram.

Hi all.
just a quick one.
I purchased a GB of ddr ram. 3200pc.
when I fit it all I get is beeping from the board.
board is gigabyte Ga-81PE1000 G.
ram is brand new. purchased from U.S.A.
any ideas please.

 

What is the beeping sequence? Short? Long? how many before it repeats?

they are short quick beeps.

yes and no.
Idid have others in. Then took all out replaced just new ram. this is when I knew
the comp. did not like it.

 

Hmm, have you tried placing it in all avalible slots on your board? I take it that it's currenty in DIMM0 (Slot 1)

Sorry to here about your ram probs.
Gigabyte motherboards very fussy when it comes to ram.
If your ram just bios beeps on boot up and wont boot your system.
shutdown your system.
first of all try the ram chip in each available slots first,.
rebooting each time.
If it still bios beeps on boot up.
Then you will have to replace your old ram chips and contact your vendor (link below) to find out if your motherboard supports the memory ram chip you have purchased
