Does anybody plow snow with a quad?

I've been wanting a quad for a few years and while out and about I saw someone plowing their driveway with a quad.

We live in the country and it seems that every time it snows, the only things getting around are the neighbor's quads.

I ran the idea by wifey and she agrees that it would be cool to own a quad.

Does anybody use a quad to plow snow. If so, what do you have and how does it work out for you.

There will be a quad and new snow blower in my garage next year.

This is the last winter that I'm getting caught with my pants down.

Done it, need chains and a heavy duty quad, worst way to clear snow, almost fun once. Large lawn mower + snowblor or get a crappy old Jeep and a plaw, you'll thank me later ;)

Neighbor done that last year with his quad, but didn't have enough weight to push the snow back. So this year he has an old Jeep CJ-5 with a plow and it does a far better job.

I have a 2-stage 30" snow thrower with a 10 HP engine for my driveway. I don't have any problems getting the snow moved.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to pick-up a quad anyway and a snow blower.

The quad will have more uses than just snow, so if it doesn't workout for me, a snow blower will be the back-up plan.

How big is your quad and what size and configuration would you reco for a 60' X 20" drive

You didn't say where you lived, since snow is actually different in different areas of the country.

In MidWest Mich we used a 250cc 2wd quad to move snow in the parking lot quite regularly, (but don't let it get too deep) by having tire chains and weight to the Rear rack. Work surprisingly well. it takes forever in a parking lot setting when the plow truck is broken down, and I don't recommend it, but it will work. Mostly used it to clear sidewalks and clean up where a plowtruck had difficulty fitting.

Just depends how bad you want that quad.

North Dakota it can be just too cold to want to sit on a quad and in Colorado the snowbanks would seem to get too high where a snow blower would rule.

A 500cc 4x4 Quad will move a ton more snow than shoveling by hand, so it's all relative.

Let us know what you decide.

If it doesn't work out you can drive over the snow with chains on! :)

My great uncle can clear three feet of wet snow with a snow blower, they've improved a lot since I lived somewhere that it snows. Wish we had one as a kid, those shovels were the pits.

    Quad's are fun, enjoy!

(great time to buy a quad now, model change and who is buying a quad in the middle of winter in Pennsylvania? Must be great deals out there.)
