Since our computer was set up for 2 users spybot keeps popping the message that it thinks I want to download "doubleclick", "avenue,a",
"new.net" and the list keeps growing, It says that they are known threats and asks if I want to block download, yes or no.
I run spybot S&D, spywareBlaster, ad-aware and just downloaded spy sweeper. I also have mcafee personal firewall plus and mcafee scan for viruses. Nothing catches it. Any thoughts? Has anyone else had this problem? Rescue me!

Spybot is just doing it's job, that's all. These are things trying to download into your computer in the background. Doubleclick and Avenue A are tracking cookies that have the potential to gather sensitive information from your computer. That doesn't mean they are being used for sinister purposes, however. Block them if you don't trust the site placing them, though some sites won't work properly without their cookies. New.Net is known spyware, block it. I believe there is an option to block without prompting, so you won't be bothered with those pop-ups everytime Spybot detects something.

The trouble is blocking the popup. This seems more like a hijacker because it is preventing me from surfing. I can type in an url or go to favorites and the spybot s&d resident window pops up and my selected page won't open. It was a fight to get on this site. At the bottom of the page it will say bad url with information about avenue a, inc. or double click etc. Thanks for any help.

We run doubleclick ads. 99% of cookies are harmless, regardless of what Spybot, Ad-Aware or anyone else says. Slowly, some of these companies are coming around to admitting this. Of course, since the majority of spyware programs find cookies, this makes their spyware programs look less efficient if you dont have any real spyware installed. Be a lot easier on you to allow cookies. What these do is look to see, for example, if you were here today, then reports back to show you a different ad. Without the cookie you see the same ad over and over. This message board uses cookies to use the features here, like new posts. Many websites use cookies to personalize your visit. All of these have to report back and forth to do their job. They are anonymous and harmless, in most cases helpful.

If you find the notifications annoying, simply go into Spybot S&D's Immunize section and change the Browser helper to block bad downloads setting from Display dialog when blocking or Ask for blocking confirmaton to Block all bad pages silently.
