does anyone know on-speed program

It is similar to a proxy servers some ISPs use, I have seen it run and while yes the text does show up quickly on DUN the images are loaded slighty after the text as they are highly compresses and have less quality about them but for most pages this may not matter, whereas IE & FF etc try and load everything together. This program is NO magical fix for downloading files faster only general webpages.

The PC that had DUN and ON-Speed still connected at 47k and still downloaded files and an avg. of 3.8kb/s no quicker than with it switched off.

Personally I wouldnt bother especially if your on DSL/Cable save your cash.


Edit: just remembered that the PC that has this on now has 512k DSL so I will test it tomorrow with it swithced on and off.

 

Well tested this yesterday with some online speed tests and with a large download ( sp2 full ) and with onspeed off the speeds of the test and download were better that with on-speed switched on.

it may load pages quicker because if the compression used but the savings were only 1~3% and that was on a 512kb DSL if using 1mb+ DSL I doubt it would be worth it for the odd millisecond.
