I want to install a firewire port on my Thinkpad T30

There is a slot on the left hand side of the pc which i think is a pcmcia slot?

I just wondered if someone could confirm this before i buy a pcmcia firewire card?

And if it is, could anyone tell me whether its a type I, II or III, or better still post me a link to a firewire card that would work with my lappy.

Silly question i know, but thanks in advance for any answers.

Scroll down to the section labeled "Expansion" or click on the "Expansion" link at the top of the article. Then look at the sub-section labeled 'PC Card'.

.... the answer is Yes. You have a PCMCIA port (2 actually if using Type I or Type II cards; the Firewire card is probably a Type III card, which will fit, but uses the space of 2 slots)
