If I can make a suggestion although it doesn't answer your question. Ditch IE and get Firefox. Firefox 2.0 will be out on tuesday. Firefox is way better IMO. Besides firefox is way more reliable and safe.

I was using firefox for a while but there are some websites on the web that don't render correctly with firefox.

You can get an add-on for firefox that renders using IE. Since I installed it I haven't used IE once.

P.S. - this would probably be more appropriate to be posted in the Software section.

Maybe the mods could transfer this to the Software forum as there are a lot of IE7 posts happening there. Bazza

To answer your question without suggesting you switch browsers...sheese. ..YES, Spybot S&D works with IE7. I tried it.

Can you actually prove that FF is better? And a few studies have shown that FF is not very safe, in fact, IE6 was much safer to use

the only thing that made IE more of a risk than firefox was ActiveX. With IE7 I believe you can opt out of using activeX and most realtime spyware protection also protect you from malicious activeX codes also.

Well firstly it is only my opinion and like everybody else I could be wrong but let me try Bladesofhalo. Working with both IE6 and FF (different clients use different browsers and I try to let them use what they feel comfortable with) I have usually experienced most problems with IE6. IE6 crashes more often and is more susceptible to malware also FF does a better job blocking pop ups. Now IE7 has come out and I still haven't had enough usage to actually test it out properly but I hear it's suppose to be a lot better than IE6. Okay well I wasn't impressed with how long it takes to install, it looks good but it only manages to copy what FF has been doing since around 2004 (except for the cool phishing website checking which is coming in FF2.0). Tuesday Firefox 2.0 is being released and then a comparison between IE7 and FF2.0 will be very interesting. People should always use whatever they feel most comfortable using and everything here is based purely on my opinion. However I did google it and here are some websites. Cheers.

Spybot not only works with Internet Explorer 7, it identifed Internet Explorer 7 as a threat. In particular, Spybot found as a problem Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.FirewallDisableNotify on my computer. This may have something to do with Norton or Windows XP. I like Firefox alot! I got tired of all the Internet Explorer problems I was having, and I was still using version 6.0. The main problem I have with FF is that some of the websites are too wide for it forcing scrolling, however, that doesn't happen very often and it is simply nice not to have a popup every few minutes asking if an active X can be downloaded and if it's okay to do scripting from the website. What do I know if the active X'er and Scripter are all right or not?

Also, getting blank white pages instead of a website was a pain and I don't think I ever resolved that one.

There are at least 6 current posts in the software section of people having problems with IE 7, so regardless of the fact that I still have to keep an IE version around for things like the Bitdefender and Panda scans and for MS updates, I'm peachy pleased with Firefox!
