does such a device like this exsist

is there some sort of hard drive like device (like the large memory portable ones that need recharges) that can store video files (mp4 or avi at best quality) and has tv plugs in the back (s-video and the red, white, and yellow ones) so that it can play videos and movies on the television without the use of dvd disks or blu-ray disks)

i ask this because i recently recieved a psp (fat) and was wondering if you can project all the images and pictures that appear on the device to the television that can kind of act like a portable media player for the big screen

does this exsist yet

Yes they exist I think,although I couldn't see one with a large hard drive ,this uses 16GB mem cards as do many portable players so you could store 3 or so DVD quality movies on one mem card.you could either write over the same memcard every time you wanted to watch something or buy a couple of mem cards.

If i read the question correctly, there are stand-alone media players. They are used mostly for streaming, but some can either come with a hard drive, or have a slot for one. I've been keeping my eye on a few, but for now, my laptop is doing just fine. I think sometimes they are called media extenders. here's a link to newegg's list of network media players. Some are HD, some are wireless, and some have hard drives as well

as far as using it to display your psp...I'm not sure, cause i don't have one, or know how they work.
