Does your lappy' need to "warm up" before it works properly?

As per the title, does your lappy take long to warm up?

I've just got this old patriot 3040 and it takes HOURS (2-3 hrs) to get it's act together, none of my comp's/lappy's or netbooks do or have ever took this long to get up to speed.

And if im honest i have no idea what could make it act like this (it's like the opposite of overheating)

It has got nothing running at start up and it acts like this in safemode aswell.


Any ideas what to look at?

Never heard of it,I'd start benchmarking each component to see what's slowing it down,run all Sandra lites benchmarks as soon as you turn it on then when its warmed up.

Check hard drive usage,harddrive free space,PF usage these are the most likely culprits,check in task manager that system idle is at 99%.

The closest thing I've seen to this is running a modern computer on a really small slow old drive or running XP or vista on a really old computer,it takes ages for the thing to load the processes.

 

Good call mate, i've just swapped the drive with anohter lappy and the problem followed the HDD....... good stuff, new HDD and that will be sorted. (i should have tried that first really
