So the new memory is DDR2, PC2-5300... what are the old ones? DDR2 and DDR memory have that little notch in different places, and if you crammed a DDR2 memory into a DDR slot, the computer wouldn't start at all. The slot might in fact have been ruined by the attempt.

So it is old memory DDR or DDR2?

Yeah, that DDR2 should not go in a DDR slot, which Google tells me your computer uses. Will it boot with just one stick in the slot you did not put the DDR2 RAM in? How many memory slots and how many sticks of DDR RAM do you have now?

I would try clearing the CMOS (turn off computer, unplug it, find the CMOS jumper which should be above the place where the wires from the power supply button and reset button on your case plug in.) Or sometimes you can just remove the coin shapped battery in the same general area for a few mins. , again, with the PC off and the power cord unplugged.

I am assuming you have a desktop PC, my quick Google search says yes, but I am kinda lazy tonight.
