Don't drink that milk........

I went to the local Kroger Food Mart about 12:00 Memphis Tennessee Time bought 1 Gal Milk cuz my dad called and said "Boy Get Milk Bye Love You Bye!" Got milk paied for it....was thursty and no sweet tea to drink(TeaHolic Almost like Alcholic in a way but for tea) so too a swig of the old milk it was dated june 12th 2005 and it tasted and felt like June 12 1995!! I am still gagging as i type i probly got milk chunks on my keys and my tounge looks like i stuck it in a pot of flower the cooking kind! Theres my crazy funnny story thought i share that!!!!

 

Did that once when I was a kid, and I still can't eat yoghurt.

 

Fortunately I never had that experience!
A couple of years ago One morning I had put some milk out for my cats, It was a warm day, no air conditioning. Came back hours later to find several messes! Turns out the milk curdled! Ewwww!

 

I use to LOVE milk. Then I went into the military.....well, to shorten this tale...I have never touched milk again. Except on wednesdays or when I'm making something that requires milk.

 

Won't you tell what happened in the military to make you lose the desire for milk? lol

You and the tea with loads of sugar, me with the soda dr pepper, and the bad things that happened to me from years of drinking soda morning noon and night? An ulcer and diverticulitus! No fun, believe you me!

Let's hear your milk story, for those of us who are unfamiliar with how the milk is in the military!

 

Well, being a recruit and all, not knowing what is what, I decided to try some milk with my breakfast. I bring up my cup to the dispenser.

Okay, one note: The military has huge milk bags that are partly frozen in large boxes. Is it real milk? Who knows! How long has this milk stayed in freezing storage? Who knows!

Anyway, I place my cup near the dispenser, get some milk, sit down where no one is sitting. Being shy at this timeframe I always looked for a place where no one was sitting.

My mind is somewhat cloudy on what happened next. Prior to taking a nice drink of my milk, a Seaman (E3) sat in the seat across from me. Anyway, I took a big gulp of the milk and spewed it all over my food and his food.

He said to me, "Ah! You are new here. Only drink the milk that is newly replaced, otherwise, the milk sits there, and curdles."

During this time, while I'm feeling my eggs coming up to my mouth, I see petty officers (E4 on up) putting milk into their coffee....

Low and behold I have not touched the stuff since. Milk that is....

I've been in the military for 10 years....btw

Funny how I have brothers that were in the military army-navy, and I never heard them say anything about the milk. And one of my brothers was a big milk drinker too! I'll have to ask him.....lol

 

Now i see why my cat ran away and i thought it was from years or tieing a string to his tale hanging him from a power line and calling the fire department to get him down or chasing the cat while wearing a mask of Ronald Mcdonald from McDonald!!

Haha! I've learned since that day to buy the milk that's just for cats. It doesnt spoil like regular milk does!

 

They make milk specially for cats?

 

yes! We learned the hard way....Cats aren't supposed to drink the milk we humans do ( If mew2 was reading this, she probably knows more reasons than I do)
We had 7 cats (now down to 3 ) 5 of them liked dairy. 2 of them liked licking the ice cream bowls (they were sisters) one of them it didn't bother the other one would get diarrhea. Ended up taking that one to the vet since it didn't go away! He scolded us for giving them ice cream, especially chocolate (can kill them!).
One of the other cats drank milk from the dish, it didn't give her diarrhea but let me tell you when we sat on our couch watching tv, with this cat sitting between us...well, she passed a lot of gas!
I believe the reasoning is ( as with some of us humans) is they're lactose intolerant. To them it can be deadly. So I discovered milk at the store for cats. One brand is whiskas, comes in a 3 pk cost a 1.99 (3 drink box size) there's another brand called ssips sold individually. One cost 1.99! This milk doesn't appear to curdle and doesn't have the lactose in it.
Same with lactaid that I buy for my son. It lasts like 4x longer than regular milk. I wonder if it's the lactose that makes it curdle?

 

While wer'e on the subject of milk curdling...Thought I'd mention a show we saw a few years ago on tv.
Scanning through the channels one night, my boyfriend came across a show that was showing all kinds of contests. One of them was a milk drinking contest. 10 contestants had 1 hour to drink a gallon of milk. We're thinking 'what's so hard about that?' But the catch was they couldn't throw it up, if they did they had to start over. We still didn't get the point and as we're watching these guys are puking all over the place after like 3-4 cups.Turns out, we discovered that when milk reaches your stomach it curdles almost immediatly causing it to come back up when you drink a lot in a short period. 8 of these guys couldn't do it and the last 2 almost came into a tie and then...you guessed it, one of them threw up!

 

i bet i could of won! I already had crudled milk!! But i took it back to kroger come to find out that batch of milk was transported on a milk truck and the milk truck refredgerator(SP) went out so they got credit from the milk and we got 2 coupons for free milk for 1 month.....and my family goes tough 2 jugs a week cuz if my bros ansd sisters and to think im the oldeest and i don't drink mlk only in coffee and rarely when i get my hands on a not empty box of frosted flakes!! Love theme flakes!!

 

Ha! I'm not a milk drinker myself ( does chocolate milk count? lol) and I don't eat much cereal, when I do have cereal it's either Cocoa Pebbles or Count Chocula lol I'm a chocoholic as by now you've guesed! lol

At least im not like my G/F coffee coffee coffee all the time she always hypd up and i sware she sleep talks cofee coffee coffee coffee this is what she looks like b4 she goes to work man i need to stop that girl b4 her eyes explode and she kills her horses from trying to make them as hyped as she!!

 

My bf is the coffee drinker. I don't drink coffee or tea!
mostly water, a chocomilk for breakfast and fruitpunch when I work at night.
I never liked the smell of coffee so I never bothered to try it.
You're not a coffee drinker either? We're a rare breed!

 

cow's milk is too rich for cats... if you give millk to cats be sure to add some water to it!
i'm a Dr Pepper fiend... and prefer it from Sonic! when i'm in the hospital.. don't miss smokes that much... but my family knows to bring me my Dr Pepper!

 

Hi Mew2! Is it the lactose in the milk that makes it too rich?
When we used to visit my parents in N. Carolina (they have come back here to the Island now) You couldn't find Dr Pepper over there! ( I think coke puts out Dr Pepper). Instead, they had something called Mr.Pibbs (pretty sure that's what it was called) that pepsi put out. Ever try it? Dr. Pepper is so much better!

 

I'm a sweet coffeeaholic. I like three and a quarter teaspoons (exactly) in a standard sized mug.

 

You remind me of when I first started going out with my bf only he put 5 teaspoons of sugar in his coffee! Now he's down to 2!

He cut down the sugar since he was having problems with his teeth, now he puts a little more milk in it. He's trying to cut down on his coffee also!

I remember sometimes when he would put milk in his coffee all of a sudden the milk would curdle in it (yuck). It was weird cause the milk wasn't curdled in the container, my only guess is it wasn't quite to the point of curdling, but the milk was old and in a few hours would of started to curdle and I guess the heat must quicken the process! It would look like white worms in his coffee! lol
