    hi :)

Ive been having some problems with
Lexplore and a few other things that start on boot up of windows,
ive tried the basic "adaware & spybot" and they dont even pick up lexplore
(i guess its a different type of thing)

but anyway, i ran HJT and came up with a bunch of junk
that i would like to get rid of, from within HJT or in safe mode.
There is one that calls its self systray.exe (location system tray)....some are .DLL etc.
i just dont know whats safe to remove without killing my computer b/c of the names/locations.

    can anyone help? :)
    Thanks so much-CG

    Hi,
Im curious who told you to try Hijack This to help me understand where people get the idea to run it? systray is the system tray in the lower right of your screen, take it out and you take Windows out. DLL files are hit and miss. If its lexplore instead of iexplore, it could be a trojan. But first, you have not told us exactly what problems your having, so please, run our tutorial and then we can take a look at Hijack This.

    Tutorial:
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

Once your done with that, we need your specific symptoms to properly diagnose the problem :)

When we ask, how to post a Hijack This file:

sorry I don't remember who told me about HJT, its been a while.
I had to use it last time to remove a few things, then do the rest manually w/safety mode. (just updated it tonight)

I know system tray is important, and that's what my problem is,
I have this list of things wrong from HJT, but normally I know what to get rid ofb/c its not part of something major like systemtray..
or if the DLL files (in this case) are important.
I just don't want to erase the wrong things.

    as far as the problems/symptoms...
a few times a day my entire pc locks up 100% when I close a browser window and I have to reboot b/c it doesn't go back to working properly, sometimes when i go to click something (online or not)
the page jumps. And things are just slow going overall.
plus i have those few things (lexplore, and others) on startup.

    Thanks so much- CG

    Ready for my .txt ?

    Re: Everything blinking!

I just helped my neighbor last week with basically the same problem......she had no spyware, so we downloaded the free Ad-Aware from Lavasoft......ran the software and found a ton of spyware.....everything from trackers to hijackers....I figured the hijackers were "fighting" over where to hijack her to. :)

What kind of spyware have you got??

Ad-aware & spybot search and destroy...
    i also use PC pitstop.

(i went in start/search/ cookies and deleted all the .txt folders in the cookies folder, and ive gotten rid of the blinking (for now lol).
i just have to tackle that Lexplor problem.

    thanks for the reply- CG

    Re: Everything blinking!

Please watch your use of works. Spyware is the bad stuff! Spyware scanners/removers/blockers are the good things.

Thus, saying "she had no spyware" means there were no problems on the PC and you would not have need to use Ad-Aware SE which is a spyware scanner/removal tool. It is not spyware.

Apologies for my misuse of WORDS.....(although she did seem to know what I meant)......it was late, I was browsing and saw a post about something I had just dealt with and didn't know if anyone was around to help her, so I opened my big mouth. Won't do it again.

It's not a big deal. I just get nitpicky about that kind of stuff sometimes because in some messages it can lead to confusion.

im losing my mind over this lol

I thought i had the problem fixed, but it lasted only a few hours...

Ive done everything that i could from the "Sticky"
also got Norton "05 and took more junk out,
cleared my temp files, cookies, updated my IE browser,

Its just wont stop refreshing, and when it doesnt blink (refresh)
it gives me error msgs and closes IE.

(im on netscape right now, and have no problems, so im thinking i might have to re-install IE)

    uuhhgggggg! please help!

    Thanks again,

You should read the tutorial in this Sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis as a .txt file attachment to your message. All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or from a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

Make sure you have HJT Version 1.98.2 and follow the guidelines above on where to install it and how to post a log.
