Don't Laugh but I like Windows ME...

Most of the time, it works for me, or has for 5-6 yrs now. Maybe its just tired, but lately its driving me up the wall and around the bend. The problem is the ScanDisk, which used to work doesnt anymore. Nor does my Defrag. So in an attempt to be able to Scan and Defrag regardless, I downloaded (several times now) 10Bit SmartDefrag which I hoped would solve a few problems and speed things up some.

However, everytime I tried to use it, I got a massage:
"Error Starting Program. The 10bit SmartDefrag.exe file is linked to missing export Kernel32.dll, GetfileSize.ex"

Hows that for gobblygook ? Do you know its meaning? I dont know its meaning. I searched the web for some sort of meaning and got no where. I simply do not know the solutions. Kernel32.dll seems to be quite the library lad, but even when I found the file and copied it to things... it never worked so I removed it again.

I should mention I got the downloads for 10Bit from MajorGeeks Texas Mirror in the USA, and from the Author, with the same results.

So if anyone out there can assist me with these problems, I would appreciate it and knit you some sort of hat or scarfe for next winter, if you tell me the size and color

In the first instance boot into safe mode - hit the F8 key repeatedly as pc is booting - select safe mode from menu, then try to defrag & scandisk.

If that fails to work, then you can also try to scandisk in DOS mode. Start, Shut Down, Restart in DOS. At the C:\Windows prompt, type SCANDISK and press Enter.
