if its network stuff you really don't need it unless you are on a network your self.

    NO.

DO NOT EVER go to Windows Update for drivers.

    Go the manufacturer's site.

I am having a differant problem. The game will work just fine. I was playing with no crashes for about two hours. THe next day I came back to play it and the game would crash before it even opened. I did an uninstall/reinstall and that fixed the problem. The next day when i went back, Same thing. Since I Bought it last week, I have had to reinstall Doom 3 4 times. Is anyone else having this extreamly annyoing problem?

Hi, don't know whether u r still having prob, but if u r I would suggest checking ur RAM (the Dimms and the slots). I had similar problem with Farcry & Painkiller and my first Dimm slot was the problem! Hope this helps :)

I had the same issue myself, Doom would just crash and I'd be back at my desktop. I have since corrected the issue by updating to the latest video drivers. This may not help you however as I have an Asus GeforceFX 5900 and went from Detonator 57.14 to 61.77. Try getting the latest Catalyst drivers if you don't already have them. Otherwise make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers and flash your bios if a new one is available.
