   does anybody know if there are commands to format your hard drive from DOS? Basically I want to wipe it clean and start over, I'm having some trouble trying to install XP on a hard drive on my laptop. thx,

   boot from a boot disk and type format C: But thats not nessacry the windows xp install should give the option to format the drive.
