I am attempting to install the HP Photosmart 7550 on a computer with Vista home basic operating system. Following HP instructions, I am using alternate drivers for another printer. All is fine until I get to the part where I am instructed to select the DOT 4 port, no such port is visible as a choice. How do I get around this problem. Thanks

What is a "DOT 4 port"? I've never heard of that in connection with a printer, or, for that matter, a computer. BTW, I believe I am using DOT 4 brake fluid in my car. :-D

From what I have read, it is a port for MFP devices that can perform multiple tasks. The DOT port was used for parallel connected devices, since converted to USB connected devices, like the Photosmart 7550. I use a DOT 5 brake fluid. Ha!

If you are following these instructions
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00808478&lc=en&cc=us&product=72891
    It says
This appears to be a driver for Vusta

I'm not sure if you want to try and use this, if the previous procedure doesn't work.
