Double bandwith?

    Hey, can anyone tell me if when you put two 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX cards in SLI does that (a.) Make the bandwith of each 86.4 GB on each card turn into 172.8 GB total... and (b.) Make the video memory of 768 MB on each card turn into 1536 MB total or am I mistaken in thinking this way and it does not really matter that they are in SLI. And is each card it's own GPU...
