Was looking for solutions to adware probs and I believe while implimenting one of those solutions, I somehow changed a setting somewhere. While I can open a folder on the desktop, when I try to double click on any drive (hd, or cd), it brings up the search option and not just open the drive normally. Couls someone plz tell me how to change it back to a normal functioning double click on the drive. Thanx

You've stumbled upon a bug thats existed in Windows XP since release and still not fixed.

Go to My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types tab.

Find File Folder in the list. Go to advanced.

Notice how the ONLY action is Find?

What happens is, it works fine, until someone view this screen, then clicks ok. Thats all it takes.

    So, go to NEW

    Action: Open

    Application: explorer.exe

Set it as the default action.

Should not require a reboot, but might.

We used to go through the support center and when we saw an unlocked computer, do this to them.

Lots of pissed off people ;)

Most didnt know how to fix it.

Well, I wasn't aware of the multiple posts, but I am slammed right now with real life.
Bascially, make one thread per problem.

If it falls off the front page, bump it every once in a while.

Its for your benefit, too. Multiple threads keeps the solutions spread out, and takes longer for you to get your problem fixed.
