When I open an existing document in Word or Excel I get the following error. "A document with the name "Blah Blah." is already opened. You can not two documents with the same name even if the documents are in different folders.
To open the second doc. either close the doc. that's currently opened or rename one of the documents."

I do not have the alleged second document.

Close all Office applications and try the steps below. Be sure to include a space after winword and excel

Click on Start > Run > then type winword /unregserver click OK

Click on Start > Run > then type winword /regserver click OK

Click on Start > Run > then type excel /unregserver click OK

Click on Start > Run > then type excel /regserver click OK

    Thanks!
Your advice solved the problem. Can you explain the solution?

    Good deal. :)

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to Word and Excel's factory defaults.
