Double icons on toolbar at the bottom?

My friend has the toolbar/taskbar/whatever ya call it at the bottom of her screen ok....the normal blue one that you get when you press ya desktop button k. Thing is she has all icons in this bar doubled...as though they are all mirrored? So from left to right she has....firstly the big START button which is fine, thats not doubled.....but then the other icons that show programmes such as the blue "e" and so on....theres 2 of these?....then at the far right of the bar where the litle icons like ya clock and other stuff is....these are ok and not doubled. Any idea why these may be doubled so that she does'nt do it again and if she can how to get rid? Can she just right click and delete?

Sorry if this is a real basic question but i'm stumped lol

Just sounds like the duplicates were inadvertently created by some unintended mouse activity. Duplicates can be deleted from the QuickLaunch area safely-- they are only shortcuts. Right-click on the ones you don't want and choose Delete.

 

Usually these icons represent the items either on the desktop or in the quick launch menu. If they are duplicated in either of these positions then that is the problem. You can easily delete the icons by right clicking on them and choosing delete. Or you can remove the toollbar alltogether, by right click in some of the space on the main toolbar. Remove the check in either "Quick Launch" or "Desktop".

 

If your running XP try "Microsoft Windows XP PowerToys 2.10" located in the MajorGeeks DL section. There is a "repair icon" feature in it.
