Down sites register_globals

Hi All,
I don't know if i'm in the right place fo this but here it goes. Yesterday many of my web sites were having problems the error i was getting is:
FATAL ERROR: register_globals is disabled in php.ini, please enable it!

My sites are on homepageuniverse and this is there responce:
I am sorry, but someone should have contacted you to let you know that we have disabled register_globals due to security reasons.

Your site http://------------- and its index.php script was being exploited and used by spammers to send phishing spam. This is beacuse register_globals was enabled and your script was not secured. Please note that your scripts are not secure if they rely on register_globals being enabled. You will need to rewrite your scripts
My programers say this is not true and want us to move to a new hosting co.

Seems to be true. Please see this link for an explanation of why register_globals is OFF by default.

You may be able to use this at another hosting co., but if the site is exploited again, it won't be long before they shut you down as well.

I have quite a few sites there so i am moving them until we have the time to write new script ( hope we get it done before another disaster)
