Downgrade Win XP?

Anyone with experience downgrading from Win XP to Win 2K or better [Win98SE = better]?

I have a Compaq S4020WM for which I bought a 250 Gig Barracuda, I then loaded [installed] Win 2k, only to find that I need the S4020WM MoBo Software [Drivers and such] which Compaq [now HP] doesn't supply for Win2K. They supply drivers only for Win XP.

What say Ye???

 

XP is superior, hands down... and will run just as fast if you strip down the 'pretty features'.

that said, for what its worth, drivers for XP should work with 2k. most drivers, you'll notice, are labeled windows 2000/XP

But what does "superior" mean and for whom is it superior?

I've been asking this question for some years now. I even went back to school [CCAC here in PGH.] for a coupla years now [at age 60 +, mind you ] to no avail yet. I did meet some younger students who helped me understand how the "superior" spin might equate to $169 per hour once one aquires thier MCSE certs .

Alas, at my age, tho, I'll settle for a simplier place and time.
