Download limit?

Hi, I tried downloading Americas army today which is a 2.6gb file, on both occassions the download was terminated at 2gb. I couldnt figure out whats causing it to stop at 2gb, and searching the net didnt help me find anyone with a similar issue. My internet allows for unlimited downloads, so i was wondering if it might be vista (32bit) that might have a download limit on? Or is there somewhere else i should be looking. Thanks for any help you can give me.

All files downloaded with a "click" in your web browser, need 2 times the space as the size of the file. This happens, because the browser first saves the file as a temporary file, before it copies it over to the location you've chosen - such as the "desktop". For your 2.6 GB file, make sure you have more than 5.2 GB free on you hard drive before you start. I'd recommend 5.5 to 6 GB just to be sure. Even a download manager program needs the same temporary space to assemble the download fragments, before it can assemble them to the final location.

 

Hi, thanks for your reply. Ive checked my HD and thats got 363gb left, how do i check if i have enough tempory file space for this download??? Thanks for your help in resolving this .

Thanks, ive been using IE to do the download, does modzilla have a better DL manager built in? If not ill try that FDM that recommended, been trying to keep my computer as clutter free as possible, but sounds like its a very usful addition. (i like the sound of it speeding up my DL as well :major). Thanks agian for the speedy reply and uber help.
