Download MS Office 2007 to notebook?

My son got a notebook computer this summer, which apparently had a trial version of Office 2007 on it. We hadn't really planned on it replacing his desktop, but in reality, it has. The trial software has expired, so now he needs the full version so he can continue doing his homework on it. I'm willing to buy it, but:

--The Microsoft website is hawking only 2010.

--I cannot go to a store and buy it on CD (no CD drive).

Is there a reputable online location from which I can download the software directly to his notebook? Are there any other ways of making this happen? :confused

 

Actually, 2010 is not that bad when compared to 2007. There are a number of options. You could buy the CD and transfer to a USB flash drive on another computer. I am not sure where you are located but students get a big discount on Office. There is a academic version for $79.95. I believe this is a down-loadable version. If he is not a college student, he would still be able to get it for $99.99 here. I am not sure but I believe this is a boxed version. I would recommend that before installing a retail version of Office you uninstall the trial version. One other option is to install the open source office suite Open Office. It is free and he could see if it would meet his needs.

 

Thanks, if I am absolutely unable to find 2007, I will return to the links you provided. However he's in HS, so the "student" discount doesn't apply, strangely enough (even though he's taking courses through a university also).

In the meanwhile, I still need to know if anyone knows where I can find a downloadable version of Office 2007.
