    confused Can someone help me out? I have a DELL Inspiron 8600 laptop. Running Windows XP with service pack 2. I have a Intel (R) Pentium (R( M
    Processor 1400 MHz and 1.00 GB of ram.

    I am downloading movies from the internet. They go to my desktop and play fine. I want to transfer them to My Documents and then move them to a folder. When I try this the logo (Real Player) comes up but when I click them I can't play them, move them, or delete them. Keep getting the message "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct." Any ideas? Thanks

    Sounds like the process that is handling the file is hung up with a lock on the file.

    If this happened after playing the file, then you've likely got an instance of real media player running in the background. Terminating it should help.

    Of if it was after moving it, it might be explorer... you can reset explorer by running:

    "taskkill /f /im explorer.exe && explorer.exe" at the command line.

    If that doesn't help, try rebooting the machine and trying again.

    If you STILL don't have any luck after that.......... possibly malware related.
