Download speed not what it should be.

    I'm on BTOpenworld broadband 2MB here in the UK. Within the last week I have been experiencing network problems. Download speeds are far slower than they should be and gaming is impossible because my latency is 1000+ always.
    I phoned BT they did a line check everything is ok according to them.
    I've tried a different modem, same thing.

    Think another call to BT is in order ( this time I would ask for supervisor or engineer as tier1 support will only be reading off the Q&A list ) as your non-peak results are correct to your speed... but looks as if they are limiting bandwidth at peak times!

    do you get the same drop off every day at those times.. plus how long does it last until its back to normal?

    Do keep those speed tests so you can email them if needed to BT... I would also do more so it cannot be blamed on a isolated incident.

    Its either limited, or the system is flooded.

    It seems as though they fixed it. Or it fixed itself. After a few line tests and calls from the engineers it has gone away.

    I am sorry halo, i sorta take offense to that, not all 1st tier tech people read scripts, and it just bugs me when people assume that all do. I do agree that you should ask for someone higher, but not just because 1st tier doesn't know what their doing. Some people, me for one, decided that instead of getting promoted, i wanted to stay at first tier so i can get better contact with customers. :) Thanks for listening to my rant.

    Maybe not Colemanguy.. but I guess you have not delt with BT?

    so to all Support Personel, I appologise if your in this grouping as its not my intention to as I do know alot of tier1 personnel, having actually been through, abeit for a 3mth period a support office myself in the distant past.
