    I have norton antivirus and somehow even tho I have auto-protect on my computer has been infected with the Download.trojan virus. Obviously I can't delete it because Norton would not repair it or quarantine it. I have attached a log file from HJT. I've read the malware suggestion link, but already do many of those suggestions. Mostly I just want get rid of the virus. Please help me out. Thanks.

    Well, i understand your wanting to simply remove the virus, but like many people here, your problem is not limited to that virus. One downside to the log files is we know what your running, and in many cases, not running. You did not do the online scans in the tutorial according to your log file which shows no cab installs from the suggested online scans. Im wondering if you did any scans from safe mode at all, disabled system restore or any other important steps. You have not completed the tutorial meaning your coming to us with partial information or not telling us everything, dragging out the process. Finally, your running SpywareStormer, its not on our list of tools and is a rogue program and could even be your problem;

    "aggressive advertising (1, 2, 3, 4); drive-by-downloading; (1); variant of NoSpyX, SpyVest, SpywareCleaner, Spyware Wizard, & Spyware Slayer (1); Ad-aware knockoff [A: 6-26-04 / U: 7-20-04]"

    Uninstall any other programs you do not use, recognize or are spyware removal tools not suggested by us. Run the tutorial and let us know where your at. We can look at the log file once thats completed (which is not too bad by the way)

    There is no uninstaller for spyware stormer. I looked in its folder on my c drive. Also, when I go to control panel to uninstall programs it does not show up. I never installed this program. I also re-ran the hijack this in safe mode. Help with this would be greatly appreciated. I followed the list. I could not run the virus scans online with networking support because my computer would not connect to the internet without the drivers... dial up you know.

    newmedia3d,

    Please EXTRACT HijackThis from the ZIP File to a Safer location. Here's how:

    To create a new folder:
    Click START > My Computer > Local Disc C: > Program Files
    Now, Right Click on an Empty Area and select New > Folder & name it HijackThis and ENTER

    To Extract HijackThis:
    Now, Right Click your HijackThis ZIP File and select Extract All > Next > and browse to your newly created HijackThis Folder
    (C:\Program Files\HJT) and click Next.

    Now run HJT from there. Please save your HJT Log as a .txt File and attach it via the "Manage Attachments" tool in the Additional Options section when you post.

    The reason HJT needs its own safe folder is so that backups will be safely preserved. That way, if a mistake is made in the removal process, the mistakenly deleted entry can be restored.
